The Refugee Support Initiative, special programme of the German federal Ministry of economic cooperation and development (BMZ), aims to improve the social living conditions of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and vulnerable populations in selected host communities in the Centre Nord Region of Burkina Faso. It also aims to promote social cohesion between IDPs and host communities. The approach is designed with organisational and individual capacity building measures for local actors including the community’s public, civil society as well as cooperation actors, networking, and framework development. Local institutions lack the capacities to provide the target groups with basic services adapted to their specific needs and tensions between IDPs and the local population put a strain on social cohesion.
The module’s defined objective is to improve the social living conditions of IDPs and the vulnerable population in selected host communities in the Centre North Region.
