Governance is about how political issues are formulated in a society, how conflicts are carried out, and how decisions are made. This involves both state and non-state actors. In this sense, the promotion of good governance includes the responsible use of state institutions with political power and public resources.
AMBERO counts on many years of diverse experiences in this field. We are active in the areas of decentralization, institutional support, the promotion of civil society, and systemic organizational development. We advise on modernizing the public administration and national systems of public financial management as well as on building a path to peaceful coexistence in fragile contexts.

In view of the pressing ecological challenges of our time, climate protection and resilience development, biodiversity conservation, its sustainable use and conflict mitigation, as well as environmental management and resource efficiency are urgent global tasks.
In response to these challenges AMBERO has developed competencies and approaches that range from policy advise to institutional development, from multi-stakeholder coordination to community involvement, from funds management to sustainable livelihoods, from training to knowledge management, from corporate sustainability to gender and do-no-harm.
Our portfolio covers climate action and climate transparency, biodiversity conservation and sustainable value chains in the AFOLU sector, integrated water resources management and water security, land use, spatial planning and conflict mitigation.

Regional and Economic Development
It is largely undisputed that economic growth is a necessary, though not sufficient requirement, for overcoming poverty and underdevelopment. A strategic economic promotion that is derived from the national development strategies of partner countries and thereby recognizes and develops untapped potential is required. The priority is to improve conditions, bring stakeholders together, generate capacities, and create space for interaction.
We advise our clients (GIZ, EU, NUFFIC) on new approaches in regional and land management and efficient design of municipal services through strengthening their competitiveness, cluster and network building, as well as through the promotion of business and employability and supporting green economy.
We implement projects in Africa, Middle East and South-East Europe supporting thousands of young people, women, refugees, and marginalized groups to increase their technical and employability skills, find jobs, establish own start-up businesses, develop sustainable business plans, get access to social services and land rights, participate in communal planning and resource distribution processes and mediate peace processes or solve conflicts in their communities.
