Implementation of Child Rights in Burkina Faso (PRO-Enfant)
Context
Burkina Faso is a very poor country, ranging among the least developed countries in the world (HDR-Report 2014: 181 of 187 countries) and has a very young population. More than half of its population (53%) is younger than 18 years old. Even though Burkina Faso has ratified all the important agreements concerning child rights and has passed crucial rights for child protection, there are still many violations to child rights, such as trafficking of children, child labour, gender-based violence and forced child marriage.
Project description
The PRO-Enfant project aims at increasing the readiness to implement measures for child security at national, regional and local level. AMBERO works in cooperation with Internationaler Bund to implement the following component: “Actors at local level are strengthened to protect girls and boys from child trafficking, the worst forms of child labour, and gender-based violence (GBV).” This component is being implemented especially in the regions East and South West.
