Date Palm Spellings Nursery, Basra
Majed Abdul Ameer: Date palm spellings nursery (Basra)
Majed Abdul Ameer’s start-up was one of the candidates for the piloting, yet because of his age we decided not to select his project, in order to allow opportunities for younger participants. However, we encouraged him to work on his start-up and we were confident he will succeed. He began his project and has been successful and made profit equivalent to $1.500 USD. He started with 600 spellings. His plan for 2023 is to have 2.000 spellings in his nursery.
Majed on the programme and his experience throughout the programme:
“God willing, the fruit of your efforts and sincerity will be the result. I am grateful to everyone, especially the teachers. My greetings and peace.
In fact, before attending the courses held by GIZ the work was random and disorganized. We had no knowledge of how to establish a project, accounts, costs, additional work, or how to develop innovative ideas.
I had worked before the course on several projects and large sums of money, but I did not feel confident, reassured, or enthusiastic about my work beyond the project that the organization set up despite my advanced age. It was supposed to be the ambition and enthusiasm of young people. Thank you to the organizations that prided us with this opportunity to benefit. Thank you, respected coaches, for doing your best to convey all the information you have. Thank you to everyone, and I wish you good luck and success.“
Majed Abdul Ameer was a participant at the Entrepreneurship program for start-up ans MSME Development.
The GIZ “Private Sector Development and Employment Promotion” (PSD) Project is supporting the development and piloting of business models in sectors with a strong potential for new job creation. As part of this workstream, the GIZ PSD project has launched the project “Entrepreneurship program for start-up and MSME Development, innovation and job creation in the agribusiness sector”, implemented by AMBERO Consulting GmbH. This project focused on supporting the development of promising business ideas in the downstream segments of agricultural value chains, particularly in the field of processing, marketing, and service provision.
