Provision of a local pool of short-term experts for the support of innovative measures for the sustainable recovery of the tourism sector in the Dominican Republic

Context

 

Given the COVID-19 pandemic and in view of the devastating economic and social consequences of the crisis, especially in the tourism sector, the priority of the BMZ (Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development) and the members of the sector dialogue on Tourism is to strengthen destinations in developing and emerging countries and keep them receptive. The regional project Economic Cooperation and Biodiversity in Central America and the Dominican Republic (DABio II) implements measures to support the strengthening and recovery of tourism as a lever for sustainable local development in the Dominican Republic on behalf of the Sector Dialogue on Tourism.

 

Project description

 

The DABio project has implemented a competition to identify innovative project ideas for the sustainable revitalisation of the tourism sector. A specific focus is on projects in the areas of circular economy, sustainable gastronomy, and sustainable or biodiversity-friendly tourism products.

 

AMBERO Consulting Gesellschaft mbH (together with COMO Consult GmbH, leader of the consortium) is in charge of providing the expertise through local/regional experts required for implementing the identified projects.

Services

 

The services provided will essentially entail:

  • Provision of a pool of qualified short-term experts (STE) who provide technical support for the implementation of innovative measures for a sustainable „green“ recovery of the tourism sector, in cooperation with tourism companies or associations in the Dominican Republic;
  • Coordination of the assignments of the local STE with the client, as well as preparation of the local STE for their assignment;
  • Ensuring the quality of the services provided by the STEs;
  • Coordination of the knowledge management;
  • Provision of equipment and administration;
  • Carry out expenditure and cost control as well as accounting and invoicing in accordance with the requirements of the client;
  • Report regularly to the client.
