Given the COVID-19 pandemic and in view of the devastating economic and social consequences of the crisis, especially in the tourism sector, the priority of the BMZ (Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development) and the members of the sector dialogue on Tourism is to strengthen destinations in developing and emerging countries and keep them receptive. The regional project Economic Cooperation and Biodiversity in Central America and the Dominican Republic (DABio II) implements measures to support the strengthening and recovery of tourism as a lever for sustainable local development in the Dominican Republic on behalf of the Sector Dialogue on Tourism.
The DABio project has implemented a competition to identify innovative project ideas for the sustainable revitalisation of the tourism sector. A specific focus is on projects in the areas of circular economy, sustainable gastronomy, and sustainable or biodiversity-friendly tourism products.
AMBERO Consulting Gesellschaft mbH (together with COMO Consult GmbH, leader of the consortium) is in charge of providing the expertise through local/regional experts required for implementing the identified projects.
