Andragogy in the digital age

In view of the challenges posed by the global health crisis, AMBERO, on behalf of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), trained the trainers of the National Bureau of Civil Status (Bureau National de l’Etat Civil – BUNEC) of Cameroon in the use of digital tools in adult education.
Context
GIZ has been supporting BUNEC since 2019 with the Support Programme for the Modernisation of the Civil Registration System (Programme d’Appui à la Modernisation de l’Etat Civil – PAMEC) with the aim of creating the necessary conditions for the establishment of a reliable civil status system in Cameroon. Awareness-raising and training of actors in the civil status system are among the key missions of BUNEC. To ensure the sustainability of technical support, PAMEC has identified and trained a national pool of 24 trainers who will be made available to BUNEC. The trainers had previously been qualified in training and andragogy.
The year 2020 has revolutionised the training environment by revealing the strong potential of digital technology. Face-to-face training is undergoing rapid transformation, requiring new skills from trainers and learners. Therefore, PAMEC has included the retraining of BUNEC trainers in its operational agenda for 2021. This training on „Andragogy in the Digital Age“ took place in Douala in the first half of June.
