First prize for AMBERO

This years’ Urban Planning Exhibition of the Association of Serbian Town Planners was organized from 6th to 8th of November in the city of Niš. The annual event is an important platform of professionals in order to present a review of some of the most important urban planning projects within the country.

The Exhibition is divided in eleven different categories for projects: spatial plans, general urban plans, general regulation plans, detailed regulation plans, proposals for urban design and their realizations, urban planning competitions, research projects, studies and plans elaborated for the purpose of environmental protection, projects promoting the application of informational technology, publications and student contributions.

Within this context, the working group formed around Dragan Jevtovic from the Urban Planning Institute of the city of Kragujevac, Ina Zerche from the German consulting company Complan and Ratka Colic from AMBERO with consortial partner was awarded with the first prize in the category of Publications. The awarded publication is a presentation of the Strategy of Integrated Urban Development, elaborated by the former for the Inner City of Kragujevac.

Standing for the transparency of the whole process of elaboration of the development strategy, the publication presents the different steps that lead to its final elaboration and might serve as a guideline for the process within other Serbian municipalities.

Currently, the City of Kragujevac and AMBERO are working on the implementation of a first part of the strategy. Together with the German consulting company ASTOC a concept for the urban development within the area of the former industrial complex of Zastava is being elaborated.
