AMBERO remains active in Timor-Leste
Between July 2014 and May 2016 AMBERO Consulting has, in a consortium with its partner ma-co implemented one component of the GIZ project ‘Advice and Training in the maritime sector in Timor-Leste’. AMBERO has now won the tender for the follow up phase of the project, which had been advertised last year and thus AMBERO remains active in Timor-Leste’s maritime sector.
In the course of the new project phase, AMBERO will emphasize besides the previous support of training measurements, on institutional advisory work and the development and support of national reforms in the maritime sector. During the previous project phase, the consortium AMBERO-ma-co had exclusively been hired to carry out all training related activities in the maritime sector in Timor-Leste. AMBERO will now continue its commitment to the Timorese maritime sector in a consortium with D‘Appolonia. With two additional fields of action in the aforementioned institutional and reform related fields of the maritime sector in Timor-Leste, promising opportunities arise in order to strengthen the sector further.
Regarding home affairs, the maritime sector is considered very important in Timor-Leste because the Timorese economy mainly depends on the strategic development of infrastructure in the fields of harbor and maritime logistics. A structurally strengthened maritime sector has the potential to promote economic growth in Timor-Leste and can consequently sustainably strengthen the macroeconomic performance.
More information on the project can be found on our project page or on the country-specific web page of the GIZ.
