AMBERO Consulting now also in Tanzania

Kilombero Valley in Tansania

Only last year, AMBERO Consulting GmbH added a new project in Kenya to its East Africa profile. The new year 2016 already brought more good news from the region: Since the beginning of the year, AMBERO is now also working in Tanzania’s Kilombero Valley. With that, we are now represented in five east African countries, which are Ethiopia, Burundi, Kenya, Mozambique and Tanzania.

The Kilombero Valley is part of the basin of the Rufiji River, the largest watercourse in Tanzania. The Valley is consequently an important corridor for wildlife, which becomes more and more endangered due to increasing anthropogenic pressures.

In the course of the following months, the team aims to support the Tanzanian government, particularly the Ministry for Natural Resources and Tourism (MRNT), in defining the borders of the Kilombero Game Controlled Area (KGCA). Three main studies (land use, fishing, pastoralism) are meant to contribute to the processes, which enable the definition of the KGCA management plan. Moreover, the project supports the preparation of a more detailed integrated management plan, which includes the entire Ramsar area.

This new project does not only expand AMBERO’s field of work geographically, it also depicts the cooperation with a new client, the Belgian Development Agency (BTC).

Further information particularly on the bilateral cooperation between the Tanzanian government and the BTC can be found online at ‘BTC – Tanzania’.
